British Airways to provide no-cost fast onboard connectivity by way of Starlink agreement
Passengers aboard British Airways can soon access fast internet onboard at no cost due to a major agreement from SpaceX's satellite company.
Free plus Quick Wifi Across the Board
British Airways stated that this complimentary, “fast and dependable” connectivity provision from SpaceX is set to be available to customers flying coach, premium economy, and premium cabins from soon.
Expanded Deployment Across Various Airlines
The holding company of BA, IAG, stated it had reached an partnership involving SpaceX to offer wifi coverage across 500-plus jets operated by the group's operators, including Aer Lingus, Iberia, and Vueling.
Seamless Wifi from Gate to Arrival
British Airways stated that this implementation for the service formed part of a multi-billion pound “upgrade” plan and will offer lag-free wifi access for travelers starting at the gate to landing, even when traveling across oceans or isolated areas.
Travelers can connect multiple gadgets and they will not have to use a separate password.
“Gamechanging for us as well as travelers, elevating their experience in the air our flights by giving passengers continuous wifi from gate to gate.”
Existing Connectivity Services
Limited connectivity service is currently offered to BA passengers through the majority of the airline's planes through the .air system.
Members in the airline's reward scheme may send messages and text-based correspondence during flights at no cost, whereas travelers looking to stream music, video, and content during their travel who are not flying in premium cabins may be charged between £4.99 to £21.99 for one wifi package.

The airline's executive team are working to improve the airline again following a period with cost cutting, IT problems, industrial action, and large-scale layoffs.

British Airways’ announcement comes shortly following telecom carrier Virgin Media O2 said it was working alongside SpaceX to improve mobile network connectivity across remote areas of the UK, enabling consumers to automatically connect mobile devices using space-based systems when no standard network coverage can be found.
